Elmhurst Fire - 300 Block of South Mitchell

At 2:14 pm on Monday, November 6th, the Elmhurst Fire Department along with mutual aid companies responded to a call for smoke investigation from a home on the 300 block of South Mitchell Ave. While in route the alarm was upgraded to a structure fire. 

Upon arrival, Engine 2 reported smoke coming from the second story of the home. The fire was found in the rear bedroom on the second floor and quickly extinguished. Fire damage was reported on the second floor of the structure. Elmhurst firefighters are currently investigating the cause of the fire. No residents were home at the time of the fire, however a family pet was found unresponsive at the scene.
